Residence Fiorella is situated on the harbour with working fishing boats coming and going. From some of the accommodation within Fiorella continual activity at sea can be observed. Fiorella is situated 5mins walk from the beach. A certain area of the beach is reserved for the guests of Fiorella, the beach number is 8 : a charge is made per day for umbrellas, sunbeds and the use of toilet and shower facilities plus the other beach activities (i.e. volleyball and sports). English and French are fluently spoken by the proprietor and his family. Car parking is available, but congestion can be expected during the busy months of July and August. The proprietor and his family have extensive experience in running the "Fiorella". The Fiorella is one of the original hotels in Cattolica and you can expect a typical Italian welcome. Over the years Fiorella has been continually updated to keep in line with modern hotel standards and expectations. Fiorella is within 30mins drive from mountain ranges topped by monasteries/churches/castles with time forgotten village nestling in the valleys. The region has large numbers of visitors in the months of July and August, but it is generally accepted that the best time to visit Italy is in the Spring and Autumn when the blossom is in full bloom and later when the leaves change to many different shades of gold, in the late Summer Sun. Typical of the area is wine tasting, the proprietor of Fiorella is willing to give advice on places to visit for this purpose. For the keen fisherman trips can be arranged to take part in sea fishing on a local boat. During the summer season the usual holiday activities are available along the coast : Aquarium, Delfinarium, Water-Park, ... People walk along many miles of shops and restaurant.
The area is world famous for seafood. Caught daily and landed in the harbour, outside Fiorella apartments. The range of food locally available is for every taste, ranging from Pizza's, Pasta, to gourmet meals, but beware there is a limited selection for vegetarians. The number of restaurants within walking distance of Fiorella are many, but within a short drive over 300 restaurants are available. Local dishes of a high standard consisting of pasta's, meat and fish are a "must", for any visitor of the area. The cost of an average Pizza with local wine is € 7 per person. A meal consisting of 3 courses (i.e. seafood meal) with wine plus mineral water is € 35 approximately. For the true gourmet food will cost you on average per person € 60 with panoramic views of the sea and harbour whilst enjoying your meal. "Very romantic".
As you can imagine this is
an experience not to be missed. Italy does not have the title of fashion capital of the world for nothing : in towns, large or small, you will observe beautiful shops displaying a wide range of clothing with impeccable taste. Assistants in the shops are usually very welcoming and helpful to the tourist often wishing to practice their English, the Customer is made to feel important and valued.
Good purchases are leather goods including shoes, bags and belts of all types.
The choice of perfumes are extensive. Jewelry is reasonably priced with a wide
choice. The area stretching from Bologna to Ravenna down to Ancona is known as ROMAGNA, UMBRIA, MARCHE. Each time you turn a corner you will see historic buildings, in each village and town churches, castles, monasteries dating from the Romans to the present day can be seen. There is also opportunity to visit the more recent history of World War Two. The area was the site of the historic Gothic line. This is of great interest to people from the British Commonwealth. The war graves commission have several cemeteries in the area. Places of outstanding beauty and within easy reach from Fiorella by either bus, train or car are : Pesaro, Fano, San Marino (the oldest and smallest Republic in the world), Montefiore, San Leo, Urbino, Urbania, Rimini, Gradara. All with fantastic views and gives the tourist an opportunity to experience Italy of yesteryear with cobbled streets, flowered clad balconies and the smell of wood-smoke on the air. Churches are open daily between 9AM - 12.30 PM (approx.) and again 16.00-19.00 (approx.). Each church has its own history to tell, complete with fantastic art.
Art is a very important part of Italian culture with galleries in most large
towns. Ravenna has a collection of world famous mosaic with people visiting from
all over the world.
